Environmental radioactivity is all around us, it is always present everywhere: radiation comes from the ground, from the sky, and passes through us from the radioactivity in the food we eat, the water we drink and the air we breathe. The public imagination often associates a negative feeling with this natural phenomenon. To increase the familiarity with this field CAEN designed a dedicated educational kit, “Environmental kit”, to teach experiences starting from system calibration in terms of energy and by acquiring gamma spectra to study the emission and the composition of different samples.
